Here's a lesson and an exercise with "the" with dates.

With dates we use the if the date has the number first (most common in British English):

 ex : We got married on the 22nd of September.

 If we're talking about this month, we can drop the month.

 ex : We are meeting on the 12th.

 We use ‘no article’ if the date has the number second (most common in US English):

 ex : She met him on November 16th.

Exercise : Put in 'the' if it's necessary.

1. The holiday starts on _____ 1st of July.
2. She's leaving on _____ 14th.
3. The trip is on _____ November 22nd.
4. My birthday is on _____ 20th of June.
5.  Lucy graduates on _____ June 2nd.
